This Data Processing Addendum ("DPA") forms part of the MathHint School Subscription Agreement ("Agreement") between:

Pracwall Pty Ltd (ABN: 71 699 340 353), trading as MathHint and operating the MathHint.com online platform ("MathHint", "we", "us", or "our")

and

The School that signed the School Subscription Agreement ("School", "you", or "your").

This DPA describes how MathHint processes personal information provided by the School in connection with the MathHint educational platform.

1. Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this DPA is to establish the responsibilities of MathHint and the School regarding the processing and protection of personal information.

This DPA applies where the School provides personal information relating to students, teachers, staff members, or other authorised users for the purpose of using the MathHint Service.

This DPA supplements:

the MathHint School Subscription Agreement;
the MathHint Terms of Service;
the MathHint Privacy Policy.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of this DPA:

"Personal Information": means information about an identifiable individual.
"Student Data": means personal information relating to students using MathHint.
"Processing": means any operation performed on personal information, including collection, storage, use, analysis, transmission, and deletion.
"School Data": means personal information provided by or on behalf of the School.
"Authorised Users": means students, teachers, and staff members permitted by the School to use MathHint.

3. Roles and Responsibilities

The School and MathHint acknowledge that:

the School is responsible for determining why and how student information is provided to MathHint;
MathHint processes student information only to provide the MathHint Service.

The School is responsible for:

ensuring it has appropriate authority, permissions, and approvals to provide personal information to MathHint;
ensuring that student use of MathHint complies with applicable laws and school policies;
providing accurate and appropriate information.

MathHint is responsible for:

processing information only for purposes related to providing the Service;
maintaining reasonable security measures;
protecting personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse.

4. Categories of Information Processed

The School may provide information including:

Student Account Information

student name or preferred name;
school email address;
school student identifier;
year level;
class or learning group information.

Learning Information

uploaded mathematical questions;
images of handwritten work;
mathematical responses;
hint requests;
learning history.

Technical Information

login records;
usage information;
security and system logs.

MathHint does not require schools to provide unnecessary personal information.

5. Purpose of Processing

MathHint processes School Data only for purposes including:

creating and managing accounts;
authenticating users;
providing AI-assisted mathematics hints;
maintaining learning history;
providing technical support;
maintaining platform security;
improving the reliability of the Service.

MathHint will not sell School Data or use it for targeted advertising.

6. Student Consent and School Authority

The School acknowledges that it is responsible for ensuring that:

students are authorised to use the Service;
required parental, guardian, or institutional permissions have been obtained where necessary;
providing student information to MathHint is permitted under applicable laws and school policies.

MathHint relies on the School’s authority to provide School Data.

7. Security Measures

MathHint implements reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including:

secure hosting infrastructure;
access controls;
password security measures;
secure transmission of information;
restricted administrative access;
procedures designed to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure.

The School acknowledges that no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Artificial Intelligence Processing

MathHint uses artificial intelligence technologies to provide educational hints.

To provide these features, uploaded mathematical questions and related information may be processed by approved third-party technology providers.

MathHint takes reasonable steps to ensure that such providers maintain appropriate confidentiality and security protections.

MathHint does not intentionally submit unnecessary personal information to AI providers.

Schools should encourage students not to include unnecessary personal information in uploaded images or questions.

9. Third-Party Service Providers

MathHint may use trusted third-party providers necessary to operate the Service, including:

cloud hosting providers;
database and infrastructure providers;
artificial intelligence service providers;
security and monitoring providers.

MathHint requires such providers to provide appropriate protection for information processed on behalf of MathHint.

10. International Data Transfers

Because MathHint uses global technology infrastructure and service providers, School Data may be processed or stored outside Australia.

MathHint takes reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate privacy and security protections apply to such transfers.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

During the subscription period, MathHint retains School Data as necessary to provide the Service.

When the School subscription ends:

the School may request deletion of School Data;
MathHint will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise information within a reasonable timeframe;
MathHint may retain limited information where required by law, security requirements, or legitimate business purposes.

12. Data Access Requests

Where a student, parent, or authorised person requests access to or deletion of student information, the School and MathHint will cooperate as appropriate.

For school-managed accounts, requests should generally be coordinated through the School.

13. Data Breach Notification

If MathHint becomes aware of a security incident involving School Data that may require notification under applicable law, MathHint will:

investigate the incident;
take reasonable steps to reduce potential harm;
notify affected parties where required.

14. Confidentiality

MathHint will treat School Data as confidential and will not disclose it except:

to provide the Service;
to authorised service providers;
where required by law;
with the School’s permission.

15. Duration

This DPA remains effective while MathHint processes School Data on behalf of the School.

The obligations relating to confidentiality, security, and protection of personal information continue after termination of the School Subscription Agreement.

16. Governing Law

This DPA is governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
